I took a class yesterday at a local scrapbook store and we did 5 embossed cards. I had never done this, and wanted to see if my sizzix would work altho I used their cuddlebug at the store. The first pictures are 2 of what we did and the next 2 are what I did at home. Everything we did at the store was on white so it was hard to get a decent picture of the other cards. Just thought I would share. Ginny I picked up some pointers so it was worth taking the class. Ginny mine I did

I too liked the looks of that one, but found I can't do it with my sizzix. We used the cuttlebug in class and evidently the opening is larger on the cuttlebug than on the sizzix. What she did was place half of your card in the folder half-way and than emboss it. She may have put the folder and paper in side ways, I can't remember. But at any rate, the folder is to long for me to put in sideways. I was thinking of cutting my card in half again, embossing it, and then doing more of a layer type card. But if you have the cuttlebug - you will be able to do it ok.

Your cards are all very nice. Now you've just got to get yourself a Cuttlebug. You will love it.

I have found that I can use my sizzix machine (the red one) and do embossing with it, so I don't know if it would be worth buying the cuttlebug. I don't think I could do more with the cuttlebug - but haven't checked it out.

Ginny....how did you emboss with your sizzix? Can you use the cuttlebug folders in it? Thanks! P.S. Your cards are beautiful! Great job!

Thanks everyone. Yes I use the cuttlebug folders - but you have to slide them through by doing a small amount, pushing it a little further, do that section and usually one more push and it does the whole design. You have to do it long ways instead of side ways. You also have to have that magnetic thingy for the sizzix that clamps in. Hope you know what I mean.

Thanks, Ginny! Yes, I do know what you mean about the magnetic thingy, and I have it! I was just wondering, because someone had said you need to use a mouse pad underneath for embossing, and I was just wondering if you had used one! Thanks again!

I didn't use a mousepad - I just layed the folder on the plastic cutting board that comes with the sizzix and it seemed to work fine.
