This is a lot over the top......This law will concern anyone or place that sells handmade items dor kids!!!!!!! I think government is getting too involved now. I understand why this got started, but doesn't it seem a bit extreme? www.digitaljournal.com/article/264507

It sure does, as it really put's a damper on my crafting as I crochet baby afghan's, baby set's, crochet on baby sock's, make baby taggies, among other thing's so now I can't sell any of them, so now have to find different thing's for my craft fair's. I think that they should be looking at all the cheap and dangerous import's, as you know they will still be around. Roberta

I'm not sure exactly how it will affect me yet, cause I don't make craft at the moment for kids, but I would think that if I did and there was a way to put up a sign at craft show that all items are for f teenagers 13 and up... and try to rename the item..like a blanket ( maybe call it a teenagers throw) and if the parents buy them, then folks should be ok.. I do however, hold and particapate in yard sales and church sales in the summer as well as I have donated clothing for under 12, and I can't see them having them all tested.... I just think that this is totally a rude thing to do as for a law.. what is the government thinking???

Well I had been wondering also, how should it affect us if we buy the yarn, and make the blankets ?? I would think we shouldn't have to RETEST the dang items would we grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I believe the stores need to take out alllllll the old stuff and re-stock with brand new already tested and give us a paper that says it was tested by so and so ... I do NOT think if the store sells it to us to use that we should have to retest it againnnnnn grrrrrrrrrrr Am I wrong for feeling this way Cause I know I don't do much because of health issues, but dangggggg the little bit I do I can't afford to have each potholder or blanket tested everytime ya know ?? And does this mean if I make and give as a gift I have to have it tested then tooooo ?? like blankets for my grandkids ? grrrrrrrrrrrrr

ya'll are very welcome ... I know I am NOT as fast and mainly work with yarns .. but I know alot of people use many different items and I hate what the government does with us crafters alll the time .... grrrrrrrrrr The government is why I got out of waitressin years ago ... grrrrr I do NOT NOT NOT believe they had a right to start chargeing taxes on the tips .... grrrrrrrrrrr and some resturants I ask the waitress who the tips go too .. cause some resturants make the waitress split their tips with allllll the other waitress on their shifts, and the busboys also if they have busboys that is .. the waitress are NOT paid minimum wages in a lot of states, they count on the extra they make thru tips to help them out and to have to split with someone that ain't making as much in tips as me or is not putting the same effort into waitiing on tables as me .... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

judy I knew we had something in common I have been a waitress all my life and I would never work where I had to share my tips I used to tip my busboy IF HE OR SHE DID A GOOD JOB other than that no way why should I bust my butt and share with others that sat around and did nothing. I started out making $2.13 hr so I had to make it in tips and I didn't always report all of them either

I hear ya .. I started at a buck an hour ... but was grateful that I made anywhere from 50 bucks a nite to 200 bucks on weekend nites ... and like you said when ya bust your buttt its hard to share with someone that sat on theirs .. grrrrrrr I also tip the busboys as long as they do a good job tooo .. I do NOT mind doing that at allll .. but I do mind when I walk in an sat down at a dirty table .. grrrrrr ... hmmmmmm but when the government stepped in and tested on the busiest days of the year : Thanksgiving ... Christmas ... Easter ... Mothers Day ... Fathers Day ..... grrrrrrrrrrrrrr I QUIT !!!!!!! those are the only times you could count on getting really superrrrrrrrr great tips ... ya know !!!!!!! hmmmmmm

I think a few of ya knew I was a waitress ..but not sure you did Donna,,guess a few of us have more then crafts in common,,lol,I too was a waitress for 25 yrs at the same place.,which was in calif,,not sure I would wait table in a state where they didn't have to pay you least min wage for maybe the 10 yrs I too didn't used to claim all my tips then it dawned on me it was better if I did, or least for me and because of where I worked,we did great in the summer worked our tail off and we even had to give 10% of what we made to the bus boys,,.lol allot of time I was tell them to slow down Caz we were always so busy,,lol We all busted out butts,,,but made dang good money,,would go home least with $100 or more in tips and only work like 5 or 6 hrs,,,anyways,,after about 10 yr it dawns on me it would be better for me to claim my all my tips because in the winter we would go down to just a few days a week and sometime we wouldn't work at all,,,so I would collect unemployment and the more I claimed during the summer the more my checks would be,in the winter,,lol and really everyone else has to claim what they make so why shouldn't we..
