Well some of you may know that I took a coaster making class since I was in a swap on another board, but when I went to pick them up to mail out to my partner to my surprise the lady's (who gave the class) mother sold mine in a craft swap. So I had to go to the drawing board and make her some on my own, just knowing that she likes angels and waterfalls, so I thought I would share my coaster with you all to tell me what you think if you would receive a set of these? This set is made out of wood with felt bottom... This set is made out bathroom tiles with felt on bottom....

well auntb... I first bought 4 round wood circles and painted then let dry.. then I used that 527 multi use glue from Wally world which is water proof, and attached the paper graphic to them and let that dry and then I coated them with 4 coats of clear paint out of a spray can... however, for some reason on two of them the graphics raised up so that is when I decided to try them with bathroom tiles and instead of the 527 I used Royal coat (decoupage finish) which glued them and sealed them with a satin finish and I like that better, and I just got done putting two coats of clear vanish (water proofer) to seal them just to make sure that it will hold....
Thank you ladies for all the great comments....

Rooster have you ever used mod podge before?...even tho it is dry it can still be tacky,,I use it on my light blubs all the time.,,and everything stick to it, I have even use the tripple thick,,same thing,,,,but I can't use spray at all,,it always bubbles on me,,lol,,so I use the mod podge even if it is tacky,..but wanted to let ya know,,I have seen where people have posted about using in on coaster and were not happy with it at all,,they say the coater stick to the coffee cup,,,lol....so maybe test it..you may have to use that clear coat contact paper after all..also if you were going make more I seen where the dollar store has coaster ,,it is that thick card board,,and you could just recover them,,,just thought you wuld like to know;-))

Oh Tmarie... I have never used mod podge, but I have learned alot on this project after spending some money...That is what that 527 did to my other two wooden coaster that is why I had to change to the tiles, but they are coming out really good, with the decoupage finish but like you said about the mod podge they felt a little tacky but then I went and bought a quart of polyeuthan....(sp) clear coat varnish and put another coat on them just now and they are looking really good, but the test will be in the morning when I try to put the cup of hot tea on it....but I use that poyeuthan all the time on my paint project that I want to put outside, and then again when I take flowers to the cemetery I also spray my flowers with the spray polyeuthan and they stay beautiful even after several rains that is why I'm thinking it will work on my coasters..... I just hope so...
